Thanks, Josua. I am reminded of a debate some time ago about the benefits of pure and applied research. It was believed that chance findings in pure research led to major break throughs and ‘paradigm’ shifts in science much more often than applied. Also, I personally believe science should embrace a search for truth about nature based on reasoning from physical evidence. As you suggest, not just assume a materialistic worldview.
